CORNundrums anyone?

On Monday night for FHE our ward met at CornBellies Corn Maze for crazy adventures. I am always entertained by corn mazes but quickly get frustrated when I am completely lost and don't want to spend HOURS stuck inside corn. Yet, somehow I choose to go back whenever the opportunity arises. I must be a glutton for punishment. Ang and I stuck together with Cullen tagging along. We were grateful for his flashlights and willingness to be our camera man. Thanks Cullen! :)

We started out with the big group but quickly were on our own. We didn't think about the rain storm the previous day affecting us until we were sinking into the mud that made up the entire path. I was not prepared for that with my shoe choice. I trailed corn husks along with me for much of the time and tried my hardest at the end to clean my shoes but I am still working on getting mud off.

We wandered for a good while happily and right when we were on the verge of frustration came across a sign that made Ang and I laugh out loud. Here is what it said:

Now in order for you all to understand the humor in this sign I have to back up and mention briefly another story. A good while back I went on a blind date with this great guy who is a complete gentleman. All we did was go to dinner and get to know each other. I learned quickly that he is a much more proper person than I am and I had to step up my manners to match his. It was good practice for me. At the end of the evening he thanked me for coming along and then said that he had a conundrum. I was caught off guard for two reasons: #1 I wasn't even sure what a conundrum is (my first thought...which I kept to myself...was, 'I'm sorry, does it hurt?') and #2 I don't think I have heard anyone use this great word in common conversation. My date was very nice because his conundrum was that he had two tickets to the Utah Symphony and no one to go with. He then asked me to accompany him which I did. So the humor of conundrum is really my own. And we were entertained to have it come up again in the corn maze...not only once but we found MANY more of those signs all with different and crazy pictures. They were the only thing that kept me smiling.

I was so excited and grateful when Victory Bridge was in sight. I am never sure if it's possible to get out of those corn mazes and always have such joy when there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. We crossed Victory Bridge and did our best to scrape the mud off our shoes. We rejoiced that our entire evening was not spent and we could still get some sleep that night.
