I know you ladies will relate to this. Last month I took the opportunity to attend Women's Conference at BYU and enjoyed it very much. I always laugh to see that all the men's restrooms are changed to women's and yet the lines are still ridiculously long. I still haven't figured out if women have smaller bladders or take longer or a combination of both, but with all women out there get frustrated when I really have to go and don't want to stand in a 20 minute line.
Today I experienced a completely opposite situation. All seminary and institute teachers in the Salt Lake area met together for a three hour content mastery class in one of the Institute Buildings. I walked in already feeling out of place because of inexperience but soon realized that I was also out of place because of gender as well as age. There were other young men around my age but the few women were all older (sisters have to have all children out of the house before they can teach seminary or institute). I have to admit, I almost felt as if I was crashing a Priesthood Session. About half way through we had a 10 minute break and I walked out to find the restroom. As I was walking out my thoughts went back to Women's Conference and I laughed to myself knowing that I would have absolutely NO problem getting into the bathroom quickly. It was a unique experience. I think that those settings really are the only gatherings in the church besides Priesthood meetings where the men out-number the women. I'm excited to be a part of them...even if it's just for a year.
