The best comment of today happened during 5th period. I just got my class settled down and working on their problems when Spencer looks at me and says, 'Miss Robinson, you remind me of a tree today.' I looked at him with a confused expression and he explained that my brown gaucho shorts and green shirt were like a trunk and leaves. You gotta love middle schooler's comments. I'm afraid sometimes I feel like a tree that just stands in the front of the class as more of something to look at then something to listen to. Then again, there is much that can be learned from nature and it's perfect obedience to the laws. Maybe being a tree isn't such a bad thing.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I can tell you I definitely feel appreciated from that comment. :) I am learning the joys of Teacher Appreciation Week. Yesterday I received a book of Thank You's from students and today learned that Chipotle was offering free burritos to any teacher with their ID badge. You better believe I took advantage of that one. Free Dinner...who could pass that up? I was very entertained by all the teachers that surrounded us at the restaurant. Obviously, I'm not the only one who won't pass it up. Today we also received a Christmas throw from the PTSA. I wasn't sure how that shows appreciation...am I supposed to snuggle under a Christmas decorated throw when the weather is finally getting warm and feel the love of my students? Maybe I'll try it. :) I do appreciate the gesture.
