Do We Ever Grow Up?

On Monday night we had our first FHE Swap activity. Our Stake has started these, I am sure, to help us get married faster. How it works is that every second Monday of the month the girls stay and the boys in the Stake switch around. So this past Monday we met at our church, our sisters and the 50th Ward Elders. Connie and I arrived fashionable late and had missed absolutely nothing. When we walked into the cultural hall this was the scene; all the girls were sitting against the wall, the guys were standing around looking awkward, and there was very little mingling going on. I honestly felt like I was walking into a Middle School Dance. Socially, do we ever grow up?

Then to add to the humiliation and awkwardness, they gathered us all in a huge circle and told us we were going to get to know each other. I was having EFY flashbacks all over the place only this time I was the participant. The worst part is that they actually taught the game/song 'Ride That Pony.' If you do not know this little game, BE GRATEFUL!! Basically two people are in the middle skipping around 'riding that pony' then they choose someone to do a little pre-choreographed dance with, who then switches with them and ends up in the circle and the song repeats. Really, I was surprised anyone actually played along but most actually got into it. I have to admit, I wasn't going to look like the stiff.

After enduring through that horribly awkward game, we played a little speed volleyball and still never were able to really get to know the "new" guys. I thought that was the whole purpose of these events. I'm gonna be completely honest and say, I was not disappointed to take off a little early.
