Last week I was blessed with many opportunities to spend more time with the youth in the groups of my counselors. I ended up getting close with quite a few and it made my week. Something amazing happens in your heart when your name is yelled out across campus with so much love and excitement...I have missed that as a BC.
The funny part of last week is that starting on Wednesday I had different youth come up to me...some randomly...and tell me that I should be a model. I'm not sure why last week was the week to build Kara up. I was shocked every time...especially since it happened every day.
Even though I didn't necessarily feel like I needed the boost, I was always flattered and grateful for the compliment. I've decided that everyone needs to be told they are beautiful, wonderful, talented, kind, etc every day. I need to be more like these sweet girls who took the time to approach me and compliment me. We all need to hear more compliments. So let's get out there and swallow our own pride and build others up.
