I can honestly say that I didn't expect this skydiving adventure to be as spontaneous as it was. It was one of the hardest trips to plan. Mostly because I recruited so many...which I am not complaining about...and the skydiving place was not too happy with all the groupon groups. I made friends with Paul, the owner, early on when I called to schedule our trip. I learned that every weekend was booked and we couldn't all come on the same day. So I thought I was being so smart to plan over the 24th of July since most have work off and I didn't have class. And I convinced Paul to let half of us jump Monday evening (the 23rd) and the others the morning of the 24th. That way we could all camp out together and make it a fun overnight trip. That is definitely not what happened!
Sunday (July 22nd) around 1pm:
Got a call from Paul telling me that evening thunder showers were canceling our Monday night jump and he could squeeze us in the morning if we could make it by 7am or we would have to reschedule after our groupon expired and pay the $100 difference. This phone call threw me through a loop because I was already trying to coordinate with this group of 9. Fortunately I have absolutely amazing friends who are willing to be flexible.
Monday (July 23rd) 2:30am:
Group #1 met at my house, packed up the car, and headed on our way to Moab. We arrived at the airport at 6:30am and waited for someone to arrive.
Around 7am we were taken out to the hanger to fill out the paperwork and watch the training video (which didn't give us any training at all). By 8am we were ready to get harnessed up. Karl and I went first.
We were shoved into a tiny plane with no door (I sat right on the edge and enjoyed the view).
Then the jump!!!
Lynette and Katie were next.
We had so much fun and all the crew loved us!
At this point, we were starving so we went for breakfast and realized how tired we were.
We decided we didn't want to stay the entire day and camp out that night but we still wanted to enjoy some of Arches National Park. It was GORGEOUS!!!
We spent more time in Arches than we expected and at this point realized we were too tired for anyone to be driving us back. So we camped after all. Karl knew of this beautiful campsite in Green River that had such an amazing view from the bank. I sat there alone lost in my thoughts both that evening and the next morning before anyone was up. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures because my camera was locked in the car.
Tuesday (July 24th):
We cleaned up camp and drove home. The other group left early that morning (similar to our trip the day before) and had their own great adventures. I was sad we were not all able to go together but I can say, for me, it was a VERY memorable trip and has made me look forward to the next opportunity to jump from a plane (preferably from a higher height with a longer free fall)! :)

You'd be a good person to go skydiving with since the jump would seem less scary in comparison to how amazing you are.
What a grand adventure! I am jealous.
