Over the 4th of July weekend, I was able to go home for a Robinson Reunion. I haven't seen some of my extended family in quite some time and it was very fun to catch up with many. I wish I was better at taking the chance to catch up with more but I find myself resorting to those I am more familiar with. When did I become one of the adults at the reunion whose role is to catch up with all of the other adults? I still think I am one of the kids and my role is only to play with the other kids. :) I did a little of both.
My nephew put on an amazing magic show as entertainment.
The night I arrived home, the family was working on a float that would be in our local parade honoring my grandpa. It's amazing what can be done when a bunch of good people work together. I learned some great ways to use balloons in decorating even though I didn't get a picture of the final product of our balloon flowers. The float turned out great and the great-grandkids LOVED throwing the candy!
My amazing grandpa, Carl Robinson, was inducted into the local Hall of Fame with other influential members of our community. I felt HONORED to be the granddaughter of such an amazing man. I only knew him for the first four years of my life...which I remember VERY LITTLE...but what I know of him has made a huge influence in my life. It was neat to see all six of his kids and many of their kids and grandkids there to honor the man that he was and is!

My Uncle honored his life and accomplishments.

We also had the opportunity to do a little white water rafting down the Snake River! LOVE IT!! I sadly have not been able to do it for years and was excited to enjoy the rush again. My brother-in-law is a master of the river and knows the best rapids and routes. We only had one rapid that almost took us. It was deeper than we expected and tipped our boat straight upward. We were all shifted in the process, an oar was lost but rescued, and my sister was thrown off the side but held on with the help of those of us in the boat. Gotta love the fun of white water.
I also had the chance to enjoy a day at Lagoon with friends...some old, some new. We worked that park like pros and avoided crowds quite well so that we could ride all the rides we wanted...even multiple times...without wasting too much time in lines.
We took an ice cream break in the middle of the day and I quickly learned that even though a second scoop is only 70 cents more, it's not worth the stomach ache that lasted the entire day. At least the ice cream was good!
The day ended with a cell phone mishap. Three of us were riding Wicked and somehow Jen's phone snuck out of her bag that she was sitting on to fly in front of us as we zoomed down the big drop. It then hit the ground of our cart, hitting Jen's foot, and sticking with us for a time. Jen attempted to grab it but was unsuccessful with the huge seat belt barrier and as we hit the twist in the track it went crashing to the ground. We had to wait until the line was done for the workers to go look for it and recover the sim card. Obviously the phone did not survive but the remains were found. Tragic!
All in all, we had a great day! Yay for summer fun and Jen's great attitude about disappointments!! Jen, you are amazing!!
